Introduction
Back in April, I wanted to expand my Garry's Mod abilities. By now I had gotten a good grip of Blender, but I never moved into animation. I wanted to change that by learning how to animate viewmodels, however I couldn't find any guides on that, meaning i had to do everything the same way i had done so far, all by myself.
I created this guide to aid those who were in the same position as me, but don't have enough knowledge to be able to figure things out by themselves.
Rigging your first model.
Thank you so much I just tested it out worked pretty nicely.

@_DarkMunch You can just swap the model and keep the original skeleton/animations
Well I have a USP Model that's similar to the one in csgo so that's what I'm trying to figure out how to use the valve animations on it.

@_DarkMunch Depends what you're trying to do.
Do I have to rerig new viewmodels to use the csgo animations on them and if so are there any sources on how to do that?

@bdbd Make sure your weapon code has:
SWEP.IdleAnimEmpty = ACT_VM_IDLE_EMPTY
SWEP.Primary.AnimEmpty = ACT_VM_PRIMARYATTACK_EMPTY
A full list of possible animations can be found from line 225 to 251 of my weapon base's code.
Hello, for some reason the empty animation when you fire the last bullet doesn't work and i don't understand why. I'm using your weapon base 2 if that helps.
I have this in my qc file:
$sequence "shootempty" "anims\shootempty.smd" {
fps 30
snap
"ACT_VM_PRIMARYATTACK_EMPTY" 1
}
$sequence "idleempty" "anims\idleempty.smd" {
fps 30
snap
"ACT_VM_IDLE_EMPTY" 1
}

@bdbd Stuff like this is why I only make the idle animation first, check if everything is fine in game, and then do the rest of the animations.
Well that sucks... I will just redo all the the stuff i guess. Thank you for helping me find the problem.

@bdbd You've rotated all your armature's bones. Not sure how you did it, but that's the problem. You can confirm by deleting your arm bones and re-importing the reference arm bones. Once you import an animation, they're gonna be all rotated. It's going to be really hard to fix without redoing all your animations :/
